The National Archery Championships took place recently with local interest being represented by a pupil from our Year 6 class. The Great British team are based at Lilleshall in Shropshire, and staging the event there enables emerging talent to be spotted early with the ultimate goal of representing the country in this sport at international competitions such as the Olympic Games. Such a dream may come in the future for the girls taking part in the under 12’s competition, who had to compete for nine hours on the first day of the event and a further six and a half the day after! Maintaining concentration for such a long period of time in a very competitive field is a great achievement in itself, and we are pleased to report a very respectable 11th and 10th place finish for our pupil over the two days. Well done.
